The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Earns a Major Extension for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim welcomed back its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network unveiled a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. In an era often defined by bleakness, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four key characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and spread the word," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Network Praise

The official statement also included praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He shouted out the fans who found the show and championed its uniquely offbeat style.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about watching this endearing family go about their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its current layer of irony. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
