Russian President Vladimir Putin Assures Continuous Oil Deliveries to the Indian Nation in Rebuff of US Pressure

Amid a clear statement to Western nations, President Vladimir Putin stated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Russia stands ready to guarantee “unbroken” deliveries of energy resources to India. These remarks came as the two leaders met in New Delhi and affirmed their bilateral ties were “immune to outside influence.”

A Message Directed at the United States

This affirmation, made on Friday, seemed to be a direct challenge at western countries, which have tried to compel New Delhi into scaling back its longstanding ties with Moscow. This comes comes after previous American measures, including the introduction of tariffs on India over its purchase of discounted Russian crude.

“Russia is a trustworthy supplier of fuel and all necessary for the growth of India’s economy,” the Russian president stated. “We are ready to keep guaranteeing the consistent flow of resources for the rapidly growing Indian economy.”

The Indian leader, without mentioning oil explicitly, echoed the theme by stating that “energy security has been a strong and crucial pillar of the India-Russia cooperation.”

Questioning Washington's Stance

Prior to the talks, in a media interview, Putin had challenged US interference on India's dealings with Russia. Putin stated, “If the US is entitled to buy our atomic materials, how can you deny India have the identical right?”

This trip represented his initial journey to India since the onset of the situation in Ukraine, and the two nations made a visible effort to demonstrate that the friendship between the men was undisturbed.

A Warm Greeting

In a notable move, Prime Minister Modi welcomed directly Putin right off the plane. The two embraced warmly like longtime companions before holding a one-on-one meal on Thursday evening.

He referred to India's partnership with Russia as “a guiding star” and noted it was “based on shared respect and profound confidence.”

Reaffirming Defence and Economic Ties

The meeting produced several significant pacts regarding defence and trade relations. A cornerstone agreement was the signing of an joint economic plan that runs to 2030, which aims to double bilateral trade to one hundred billion dollars annually by the 2030 deadline.

Furthermore agreed to reshape their defence ties. Even as Russia remains India's biggest supplier of defence equipment, its share has diminished lately as India aims to widen its supply base.

The joint statement emphasized cooperation in the collaborative manufacturing of cutting-edge weapons platforms, even if specific reference of deals for the fifth-generation aircraft were omitted.

Overall, Russia and India restated that during the “current complex, strained, and volatile global landscape, Russian-Indian ties stay durable to external pressure.”
