Dive Into the Revamped Legendary Journey: This Complimentary Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Debuts Soon.

Players eagerly awaiting the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait too much longer. A free-to-play playable preview is set to release on the seventh of January, providing a sizable glimpse into the game's opening hours. Importantly, any progress achieved within this demo can be imported directly into the complete game upon its eventual release.

More Than a Simple Re-release: The Thorough Transformation

This project constitutes a from-scratch reinterpretation of the seminal 2000 role-playing game, initially known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct step away from other Dragon Quest remakes, such as the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this remake utilizes a striking three-dimensional art style. Locales are designed to look like intricate dioramas, with characters sporting a delightful chibi-esque look.

"Even with the 3DS remake, the main quest was remained notoriously extended. Therefore, we reached a decision that we wanted to condense the story, [and] craft an adventure for modern gamers."

Major Gameplay Changes and Updates

The creators has added numerous enhancements to refresh the original gameplay loop. Among these are:

  • Quick Overworld Encounters: Taking a cue from contemporary RPGs, weaker foes can now be dispatched instantly on the overworld map eliminating the need for entering a separate turn-based battle screen.
  • Adjustable Battle Pace: Players can accelerate battle sequences to quickly get past less challenging fights.
  • New Vocation Mechanics: One brand new vocation has been created for this remake. Additionally, party members gain the option to take on a second vocation, significantly expanding customization options.

These changes are aimed at address one of the 2000 title's most noted points of feedback: its daunting playtime. That initial main quest could easily require more than 100 hours to complete. The new edition has been expressly designed to refine pacing and cut down on perceived repetition.
